“There are so many difficult things we're living through in the world today, so many horrible events, but we cannot let them stop us. No matter what happens, I feel you must move forward with optimism and not get totally sideswiped.”

– Gloria Estefan

Dear Alumnus,

Welcome to the June 2021 issue of International Journal of Oral Health Sciences (IJOHS).

The present burning issue in the health sector is the COVID-19. It is somewhat disappointing that the year begins, like last year, with still unanswered questions about COVID-19.

With India in the mid of an alarming second wave of COVID-19, the mood is one of the glooms and dooms. People are grief-stricken at the loss of their loved ones, and others are facing the disease themselves. With oxygen and medicines in short supply in some states, the situation is one of the absolute panics and helplessness. However, the pandemic also has given us ordinary young men and women who are doing extraordinary work to help people in distress. It is these brave hearts that we need to celebrate and remember when we look back.

With the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, most individuals are juggling with mental stress, anxiety, and depression. Studies have shown that a positive attitude can impact both physical and mental health. It might sound weird how to stay positive throughout a situation like this, but not impossible.

It thus demands constant involvement, learning, and sharing the experience never stops as it is the source of knowledge. It is very essential to upgrade and revolutionize with constantly evolving scientific standards in our profession because when you know better, you do better.

We hope you enjoy this issue of IJOHS. As always, we welcome your feedback and submissions.

“Stay Healthy, Protected, and Hopeful!”
